EDEC - 4561 Field Experience: Applied Science and Social Studies Methods in Early Childhood (2) Provides supervised experiences in early childhood classrooms to observe, facilitate, and assess the literacy learning of children in grades K-2. Includes planning and teaching developmentally appropriate lessons and activities across literacy content areas. Involves the use and integration of technology in learning experiences. Incorporates WIDA language standards into lesson planning to support multilingual learners. Focuses on creating and maintaining appropriate environments and implementing classroom management strategies. Emphasizes reflection on field experiences, as well as the development of each candidate’s knowledge and skills.
Required fieldwork: once a week for each week in the semester Instructional Method: Supervisory. Terms Offered: Fall, Spring. Prerequisite: EDEC-4571 and EDEC-4581 with a minimum grade of B-. Corequisite: Enroll concurrently in EDEC 4560 .
