EDEC - 4571 Field Experience: Applied Literacy Methods in Early Childhood (2) Provides supervised experiences in early childhood classrooms to observe, facilitate, and assess the literacy learning of children in grades K-2. Includes planning and teaching developmentally appropriate lessons and activities across literacy content areas. Incorporates WIDA language standards into lesson planning to support multilingual learners. Focuses on creating and maintaining appropriate environments and implementing classroom management strategies. Emphasizes reflection on field experiences, as well as the development of each candidate’s knowledge and skills. Required fieldwork: once a week for each week in the semester Instructional Method: Supervisory. Terms Offered” Fall and Spring. Prerequisite: EDEC-3099 , EDEC-4550 , and EDEC-4551 with a minimum grade B-. Corequisite: EDEC-4570 .
