Undergraduate Programs Overview

The undergraduate degree programs in the College of Health and Human Services prepare students for careers in health and human services or for further study in graduate programs. 

Many majors include extensive community-based field experiences and opportunities to engage in research and service activities through a broad network of hospitals, schools, private practices, and community organizations throughout the greater Chicagoland area and northwest Indiana. Courses are offered in on-campus and online formats and employ both traditional and innovative teaching strategies to support engaging learning experiences.   While the College offeres some courses of general or interdisciplinary interest to students from other colleges, most courses are designed to meet the professional education needs of specific majors.  

“IAI” course designations refer to the statewide Illinois Articulation Initiative  previously discussed and found at website www.itransfer.org.

The college is organized into seven academic departments. The academic departments are the Department of Addictions Studies and Behavioral Health; Department of Communication Disorders; Department of Health Administration and Informatics; Department of Nursing; Department of Occupational Therapy; Department of Physical Therapy; and the Department of Social Work. Graduate Programs Overview

The graduate degree programs in the College of Health and Human Services prepare students for professional practice, career advancement, career change, and where applicable, initial licensure in health and human services fields. 

All programs include extensive field experiences and opportunities to engage in research and service activities through partnereship with hospitals, medical centers, ambulatory-care facilities, long-term care facilities, private practices, schools, and social service agencies throughout the Chicagoland area and northwest Indiana.  Courses are offered in both on-campus and online formats and use a range of traditional and innovative teaching strategies to promote high-quality learning experiences.
