INST - 5102 Race and Race Relations (3) The course examines discourse on race, race relations, and resistance in a world-historical context. Participants will study epistemology constructing the idea of race and racial categories. They will study the uses of race discourse and practice in the colonial and post-colonial encounter. Following dialectical methodology, participants will study discourses of resistance, rebellion, and reform underlying social change and the pursuit of racial justice. Equivalent to INST-502.
