SOC - 3700 Sociology of Sports (3) Examines sports from a sociological perspective through participant observation and ethnography to understand sports as social phenomena. Analyzes the socio-cultural structures, social patterns, and institutionalization of sport. Topics include sports and race, class, and gender; social policies and sport; and athletic institutional systems. Prerequisites: Take either SOC-3150 or SOC-3200 , plus take one course (3 credits) in ANSO or SOC at the 1000 or 2000 level; or request permission from instructor.
