ART - 3103 Women in Art (3)


Explores the role of women within art history as subjects, viewers, and creators, and how issues of gender have been encoded in art practice, exhibition, and collection. Analyzes works through thematic, theoretical, and stylistic lenses, taking examples from across the globe and from different points in history. Emphasis is on the art of eminent female artists and the social, political, and artistic climate in which they worked. Instructional Method: Lecture-Discussion. Terms Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
