ADDS - 6300 Families, Counseling Approaches, and Addiction (3) Provides an overview of general family theories and the interactions between substance abuse and family dynamics. Students learn about the impact that drinking and drug use can have on family life. They also learn how family systems, in turn, may enable addictive drinking or drug use to continue. This course will help students develop a strong general framework for family counseling, assessment and intervention skills, and an understanding of the unique issues facing families in the context of addictive behaviors. Equivalent to ADDS-630.
