ART - 3316 Survey of African-American Art (3)

Explores African-American art, artists, theories, socio-political issues, and cultural perspectives within their unique historical contexts, from the 17th century to present day. Emphasis on cultural origins in Africa, themes of identity and hybridity, and connections to contemporary social justice movements.  Instructional Method: Lecture-Discussion.
