MATH - 6110 Algebra for Teachers (3)


This course provides an advanced perspective on the school algebra curriculum with a focus on both the mathematical content and mathematical practices supported by appropriate technology and varied representational tools, including concrete models. Topics covered include: variables and symbolization, expressions, equations, inequalities, proportional relationships, algebraic structures and operations, functions and their representations and analysis (linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, absolute value), parameters, patterns of change, modeling with functions and real-world applications, historical development and perspectives of algebra and contributions of significant figures and diverse cultures. Instructional Method: HL Hybrid Lecture, OL Online Lecture Fall, Spring, Summer Graduate student standing. A Professional Educator’s License (PEL) and teaching experience equivalent to two full academic years. Instructor approval is required to enroll Prerequisite: None
