SOC - 3100 Studies in American Society (3) Broadly conceived, sociology is the systematic study of social behavior and group life. It takes as its point of departure the fact that (1) humans are essentially social beings, and (2) that human behavior is both the cause and effect of group life. Unraveling the implications of the essential socialness of human behavior-how the groups humans live in both shape their behavior and how humans shape group life-is the focus of this course. Equivalent to SOC-301.
