CHEM - 3532 Organic Chemistry I Laboratory (1) Covers organic laboratory techniques (mostly microscale) including methods of separation, purification, and identification of organic compounds. Techniques include melting point and boiling point determinations, refractive index, recrystallization, simple distillation, fractional distillation, extraction, column chromatography, thin layer chromatography, and gas chromatography. Ultraviolet-visible, infrared, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy techniques are covered for structure elucidation of organic compounds. Equivalent to CHEM-342. Corequisite course: CHEM-3531 .
