ENGL - 4575 Reading Theory and Practice (3) Focuses on building reading comprehension strategies appropriate for readers in secondary schools. Addresses developing critical literacy, engaging students, and connecting to texts to reveal how highly engaged young adult readers produce meaning. Teaches meaning-making strategies to use with reluctant readers. This course is to be taken concurrently with EDUC - 4301 Secondary Microteaching 1 (1) which includes 35 hours of micro-teaching field experiences for undergraduates seeking certification in English secondary education. Instructional Method: Offered face-to-face. Semester Offered: Fall. Equivalent to ENGL-574. Prerequisite: EDUC-2310 , SPED-2100 and EDCP-2101 . Restrictions: Restricted to Secondary English Education candidates with permission of program coordinator or advisor. Corequisite: EDUC - 4301 Secondary Microteaching 1 (1) .
